The Art of Making Websites for Commercial Security Cameras: Our New Case Study Is Here
Eagle Eye Video Surveillance, LLC is a Seattle, WA-based company that offers premium-quality CCTV cameras and other various security camera systems. The goal set for us by the client was to create a simple yet stylish and modern web-design.
After putting our heads together, we’ve come up with a cyberpunk-ish concept that combines interactivity, strong imagery, and simplicity. Here’s what we did to make it pop.
Coming Up With the Design: Minimalism Is Holy
As the client practically gave us free rein, we went for a stripped-down design with strong visual elements throughout. We went for a minimalist style with contrasting colors: bright green and blue buttons and letters on a black background because, let’s be honest, a dark background makes everything look infinitely cooler.
The overall aesthetic of the website promotes the client’s offering - a security camera service - the best way it knows. The ultramodern, cohesive theme throughout the site draws an immediate association with security and video surveillance systems.
Animations Are Your Friend If You Want to Stand Out
Even though we decided to take a minimalistic approach, we still wanted Eagle Eye to stand out from the crowd: such is the main goal of web development for any client, not just a security camera system company.Â
We needed to add something throughout the site that would attract the attention of users and keep it on the site until they decide to make a purchase or at least use the contact form to ask a question. Here’s what we did:
- The very first thing that visitors see when they open the site is a giant animation of a security camera on a rainy backdrop. On top of the camera, there’s a button flashing red. A bit threatening and dystopian? Sure, but also memorable and intriguing, which is what we were going for.Â
- Another animation right below creates an association with a neural network. We thought it would be a good idea to remind visitors what they came for: security and protection from danger. The word association they will see is sure to set the record straight and bring to mind all the times the user didn’t feel safe - and why they need a CCTV camera.
- There’s more: a CSS animation in the next section below engages visitors by making them hover over images of buildings that represent the client’s main areas of work and who they service. Such animations are your cheat code to keeping the visitor on the site for as long as you can.
The final fruit of our labor is a security camera system website design that is both cohesive and functional, with a simple layout and powerful imagery throughout that makes users want to learn more about what Eagle Eye has to offer.
